aurora...

highest point in western nebraska

They said Aurora Borealis could be seen as far south as Seattle, Milwaukee, and maybe even North Platte, Nebraska due to some irregular cosmic activity.

high voltage, man

So I packed up my gear and set off to Sioux Lookout for some long exposures at 12am the other night

I didn't see to much of Aurora, but some of the shots were still nifty

nostalgic or something...

I am writing this a week and a half out from my imminent departure to Sweden. I've been feeling a bit nostalgic this summer, it probably is due to coming back home for the summer after living someplace completely new and different. For those unaware, I spent the past school year in Chicago, studying at a university in the city. Through a series of curious events there, I have been able to take part in a study abroad program this fall. All of this is to say my mind is observing things from a bit of a different lens this summer, and I am trying my best to capture it. I should also take this time to apologize to the poor saps that follow my overly active Instagram account -- I'm sorry I'm not sorry! It's just that I've been using mobile photography as my main platform, that's all. I mean seriously, have you seen the VSCOcam app? Combine that with the iPhone 5's impressive camera and you have potential for top notch snaps, my friends.

Anyway, back to my nostalgia. I decided to actually utilize the dSlr setup I've been collecting, so I took a walk with my "critical photographer's eye" open around my neighborhood and then decided to give the resulting photos a bit of nice old-timey slide film feel.

Pure nostalgia, my friends.
